After Time
Video Commission for Exhibition by Polina Davydenko

Commissioned for Polina Davydenko’s exhibition of the same name, After Time centers on the stone babas—ancient statues scattered across the Ukrainian steppe—as silent witnesses to endurance. A single digital field becomes their stage, where shifting seasons, weather, and sudden catastrophes unfold around them. Wildfires, storms, and slow cycles of growth and decay transform the environment, yet the figures remain unmoved.

Created through a hybrid process of advanced shading techniques, procedural geometry node setups, and manual texture bashing and animation, the video loops in long, meditative transitions punctuated by abrupt ruptures. Its rhythm mirrors both cyclical time and historical turbulence: a meditation on resilience, survival, and the silent strength of monuments standing in threatened landscapes.
